4 Free Tools Every Actor Should Use

Who doesn't love free stuff? I know I do - especially when the free stuff is super-useful and makes my life easier! I’ve put together this list of free online tools every actor should know about. Check them out and let me know what you think!

Workflowy

“Organize your brain.” That’s their tagline and I gotta say, my brain DOES feel more organized! I love this simple yet sophisticated app and I use it every day. I’ve tried many different digital notes apps in the past, but so far nothing compares with Workflowy. I admit when I first opened it, I thought it couldn’t possibly be useful - it was too simple! But, the beauty is the app lets you take notes the way you think. Pretty cool! They do have a paid version, but I use the free version and I love it.

MailChimp

MailChimp is my go-to for email marketing, and I recommend it every day to my website clients who want an easy way to stay in touch with their fans and followers. The templates are great and easy to customize, there are a ton of video tutorials showing you how to use the system, and the best part - it’s free to use for up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails per month. Plus, the cute mascot gives you a high-five when you’ve sent an email. :)

Canva

I haven’t needed to use Canva myself, since I work with graphics all day. But if you want to punch up your social media presence with some cool images and don’t know the first thing about Photoshop, then Canva is right up your alley. End up with a Facebook cover, blog image, or Twitter background that looks clean and professional. Plus, the standard version is totally free!

Buffer

For me, the hardest part of using social media for my acting career is coming up with content to share with my followers. The Buffer app has made this easy. Think of it like your social media assistant! When you find great content you want to share, just add it to your Buffer queue and it will be posted for you at times you’ve pre-set. Just drop in your Tweets, Facebook stories or LinkedIn updates and let Buffer do the rest. It’s free to use for one platform. I do love my Buffer!

I hope you enjoy trying these out. What are some online tools you use that you can’t live without? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
